Reading about this song's affect on you put me in the mood to listen to Bread's "Everything I Own." Apparently David Gates wrote it about his father, and it makes me ache.
Oh, Toad, I'm gonna start crying if I keep listening to that one! It's so great - a lost classic. The refrain reminds me of REO Speedwagon's Keep on Loving You which is so not as good. But I love how pop songs borrow melodies from each other.
